Ever wonder what goes into a brake drum before it reaches your workshop? Here's a look at the journey of a UIB brake drum, from molten iron to finished part.

1. Casting on a modern line

Our brake drums are produced on our latest cast iron manufacturing line. Advanced molding and pouring control ensure consistent material quality and stable wall thickness — the foundation of a drum that wears evenly and dissipates heat well.

2. Machining to precise dimensions

After casting, each drum is machined to exact inside and outside diameters. Dimensional accuracy is what guarantees a proper fit with the brake shoes and hub — and what prevents brake pulsation in service.

3. Strict quality inspection

Every drum is checked at each stage of production. Key checks include:

  • Inside diameter and wall thickness against specification
  • Surface condition — no cracks, porosity or inclusions
  • Balance and runout for vibration-free braking

4. Protection and packaging

Finished drums get rust-preventive treatment and protective wrapping, then are palletized with stretch film ready for sea freight.

Why it matters to you

A drum that fails early costs you downtime, labor and reputation. That's why we keep production and inspection standards high — so your customers stay on the road.
