Fuel injectors are precision components — a few microns of wear can change fuel delivery and hurt performance. Good maintenance keeps them working longer and saves fuel.

Keep fuel clean

Contaminated fuel is the number one injector killer. Use quality filters, change them on schedule, and keep fuel storage dry and clean.

Watch the warning signs

  • Rough idle or misfiring
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • White or black exhaust smoke
  • Hard starting, especially in cold weather
  • Engine knocking or loss of power

When to replace rather than repair

Injectors with worn nozzles, damaged needles or failed solenoids should be replaced. Rebuilt injectors can be cost-effective, but confirm the rebuild quality and testing standards.
